SafeBAE 2024 Year in Review: Gratitude, Growth, and Impact

Celebrating a year of progress—join us in making 2025 even stronger.

Reflecting on a Year of Growth and Impact

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on everything SafeBAE has accomplished this year. What started as a small, youth-led movement has grown into a nationwide network of advocates, educators, and changemakers working tirelessly to prevent sexual violence and support survivors. Each year brings its challenges, but 2024 has proven to be one of our most transformative yet.

From presenting at national conferences to launching new teaching guides and growing our peer educator programs, SafeBAE has continued to innovate and expand our reach. Behind every milestone is the unwavering dedication of our team, the generosity of our donors, and the courage of young people stepping up to lead these critical conversations in their schools and communities.

This year’s journey has been about more than just checking off goals—it’s been about breaking barriers, empowering voices, and creating lasting change. In this article, we’ll celebrate the highlights of 2024, the incredible stories that shaped our work, and the impact we’ve made together.

Empowering Leaders Across the Nation

This year, SafeBAE’s reach has grown like never before, with over 1,200 certified peer educators making an impact in all 50 states. From the bustling cities to the smallest towns, these young leaders are taking the tools and training they’ve received to their schools and communities, helping to create safer, more informed spaces for their peers.

Our Daisy Coleman Peer Educator Training has been a cornerstone of this growth. With 1,458 students actively registered in the program, these educators aren’t just learning—they’re leading. By sharing lessons about consent, bystander intervention, and healthy relationships, they’re helping to rewrite the culture around sexual violence prevention, one conversation at a time.

This work extends far beyond individual classrooms. With 42 SafeBAE clubs established in schools and communities across more than a dozen states, the impact is exponential. These clubs are more than just meeting spaces—they’re hubs for organizing events, driving awareness campaigns, and building connections that amplify our mission.

SafeBAE’s network of peer educators and clubs represents the next generation of changemakers. They’re proof that when young people are given the tools and support they need, they can make a tangible, lasting difference in the fight against sexual violence.

Reaching Millions, Creating Change

This year, SafeBAE’s impact has been nothing short of extraordinary. Our prevention materials alone have reached 6.2 million people, spreading knowledge about consent, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention far and wide.

Through our video content, partner collaborations, and interviews, we’ve achieved 9.4 million views—each one representing an opportunity to spark awareness and empower action. These videos don’t just educate—they inspire, offering young people and their communities tangible tools for creating safer environments.

Our Policy Reform Guides have become a vital resource for students pushing for meaningful change in their schools. With 110 guides in use, these students are driving conversations about consent and accountability in school policies, ensuring that responses to sexual violence are effective and survivor-centered.

On the ground, our in-person presentations have reached 85,000 people, delivering life-saving education and creating a ripple effect that extends beyond the room. Whether it’s a classroom, a conference, or a school assembly, these moments are where awareness becomes action, and action becomes change.

New Resources, New Horizons

This year, SafeBAE has expanded its offerings to ensure even more accessible and impactful resources for students, educators, and communities. Each of these additions reflects our commitment to fostering safer spaces and empowering young people with the tools they need to lead the charge in sexual assault prevention.

  • Male Survivor Interview + Teaching Guide: A groundbreaking resource that brings male survivor voices into the spotlight, paired with a teaching guide to spark conversations about consent, boundaries, and survivor support. This tool is already making waves in classrooms and communities nationwide.
  • “It’s Giving Red Flags” Short Film + Teaching Guide: Created to resonate with youth, this film highlights real-life scenarios and red flags in relationships, teaching students how to navigate boundaries with confidence. The accompanying teaching guide makes it easy for educators to lead these vital discussions.
  • Peer Educator Training Spanish Edition + Spanish Consent Undies: Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, we’ve translated our flagship Peer Educator Training into Spanish. Alongside this, our Spanish-language Consent Undies are spreading awareness in a bold and creative way.
  • Short Lesson Plans: Tailored lesson plans for all of our videos now include teaching guides and posters, providing educators with ready-to-use tools that amplify their impact in the classroom.
  • New SafeBAE.org Blog: A fresh, accessible platform where we share stories, resources, and updates from our team and community. This blog ensures that everyone can stay informed and engaged with our mission.

These resources reflect the heart of SafeBAE’s work: providing creative, approachable, and accessible education that empowers communities to create safer, healthier relationships. By introducing these tools, we continue to expand the reach of our message and ensure everyone, everywhere, has the resources they need to make a difference.

New Partnerships: Expanding Our Impact

2024 was a year of growth and collaboration for SafeBAE, marked by powerful new partnerships that are helping us reach even more students, educators, and communities. These alliances reflect our commitment to building a unified front in the fight against sexual assault and creating safer spaces for young people nationwide.

  • New York State Coalition to End Sexual Assault: Together, we’re amplifying the voices of survivors and expanding access to educational resources throughout New York, laying the groundwork for systemic change.
  • Alliance Schools in Los Angeles: By partnering with this network of schools, SafeBAE is bringing peer educator training and consent education to one of the nation’s largest urban centers, empowering students to lead within their communities.
  • Delivered Peer Educator Training to 1,000 Students in New York: This milestone is a testament to the power of peer-to-peer education. These students are now equipped to foster change, creating ripples of impact that will last for years to come.
  • Rhode Island Department of Health: Working alongside public health professionals, we’re integrating consent education into statewide initiatives, ensuring a holistic approach to violence prevention.

These partnerships demonstrate what’s possible when organizations, educators, and students come together with a shared mission. Through these collaborations, we’re not just delivering education—we’re creating a movement that brings lasting change.

Celebrating Our 2024 Achievements

This year, SafeBAE reached new heights, proving that our mission continues to resonate and inspire across the country. Through conferences, school presentations, recognitions, and crucial funding, we’ve expanded our impact in ways we couldn’t have imagined at the start of the year.

Our presence at national conferences, including the GDS Consent Summit, the Conference on Youth Sexual Health Education, NOVA, and the Maine AHPERD conference, allowed us to share our expertise with educators, advocates, and peers, further establishing SafeBAE as a leader in sexual violence prevention.

In schools, we were welcomed into institutions like Philip Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, Worcester Academy in Massachusetts, Lamar Consolidated High School in Texas, and the Science Skills Center High School in New York. These presentations brought our peer-led programs to life, creating safe spaces for critical conversations with students.

Recognition of our work reached new levels this year. SafeBAE was published in the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, featured as a reference in Miller’s Girl, and spotlighted in Netflix’s Raising Voices. These acknowledgments affirm the importance of our mission and the impact of our approach.

None of this would have been possible without the vital grants and funding we received. Support from organizations like the Victim Rights Law Center, NY State Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and Maine Health Access Foundation, among others, ensures that our programs remain accessible and impactful.

This incredible momentum is a testament to the power of collaboration, dedication, and the unwavering belief that we can create a world where every student feels safe, respected, and empowered.

Gratitude for Our Supporters

Our work would not be possible without the incredible support of our funders and corporate partners. The World Childhood Foundation, Maine Health Access Foundation, Pull Up Fund, Rhode Island Department of Health, and Rhode Island Foundation have generously provided the resources necessary to drive our mission forward.
