$5 Can Get a Student to Our Summer Institute
Every donation counts—and during 401Gives, it counts even more
What If $5 Could Change a Life?
This year, SafeBAE is proud to participate in 401Gives, Rhode Island’s statewide giving event taking place April 1–2, and we’re inviting you to join us in making a big impact with just a few dollars.
401Gives is a 48-hour online fundraiser where nonprofits across the state rally their communities—and this year, SafeBAE is in it to win bonus funds, matching donations, and scholarships for youth activists.
We’re turning this campaign into a friendly competition, and you’re on our team. Every donation of $5 or more helps SafeBAE compete for extra prizes and directly supports travel scholarships for students to attend our Summer Activist Institute.
With specific “power hours” offering limited-time matching and bonus opportunities, your donation—no matter how small—could be the one that helps us win big.
How 401Gives Works & Why Timing Matters
Think of 401Gives as Rhode Island’s version of Giving Tuesday—but with a twist. It’s not just about how much is raised—it’s when you donate that can make all the difference.
Throughout April 1–2, the 401Gives platform offers bonus matches and prize money during specific time blocks. That means if you give during one of these windows, your $5 donation could be worth $30 or more—or help SafeBAE win prize money for having the most donors in a single hour.
It’s simple:
- Donate $5 or more at key times
- Help us win extra funding through bonus challenges
- Fund scholarships for young activists to attend our Summer Institute
And because every single donation counts, this is a campaign where you don’t need deep pockets to make a difference. You just need to show up at the right time.
We’ll be posting live updates, goal trackers, and stories all day long—because when we show up together, we win together.
What Your $5 Actually Supports
Every year, we meet incredible students who are ready to lead—ready to bring consent education to their schools, start SafeBAE clubs, support their peers, and speak up when no one else will. They’ve been through it. They care deeply. They’re not afraid of hard conversations.
And the only thing stopping them from getting to our Summer Activist Institute is travel.
That’s it. Not passion. Not commitment. Just the cost of getting there.
That’s where you—and your $5—come in.
During 401Gives, that $5 could literally be the reason a student makes it to the Institute. And because this event offers bonus matches and prize money, one donation can stretch even further—sometimes tripling in value.
This is a once-a-year opportunity. It’s like Giving Tuesday meets Black Friday, but for grassroots change. And it’s not about how much you can give—it’s about showing up at the right time and knowing that your five bucks might be the one that helps us unlock travel for a student who’s just waiting for a “yes.”
How to Take Action
Here’s how you can help make sure a student gets to SafeBAE’s Summer Activist Institute—all it takes is $5 and good timing.
We’re part of 401Gives on April 1–2, and during certain windows, your $5 donation could unlock bonus money, matching funds, or help us win extra prizes.
Here are the most important moments to show up:

Every $5+ donation gets a $25 BONUS. This is the most valuable time slot—set your alarm and donate early!

April 2: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Final match window. Last chance to help us win big before 401Gives ends.
We’ll be posting updates all day on April 1–2—real-time donation counts, student stories, progress bars, and behind-the-scenes energy from our team.
