Supporting a Survivor
For some, reconnecting with their body and emotions may feel overwhelming. Some survivors experience disconnection or turn to risky behaviors to manage pain. While facing these feelings can be difficult, avoiding them can cause further harm. With compassionate support and mental health resources, survivors can begin to process trauma, reclaim safety, and move toward healing.
Relationships and intimacy after assault can bring new challenges. Survivors may face triggers that complicate dating, while partners may feel uncertain about how to provide support. To open space for these conversations, SafeBAE partnered with Teen Vogue to produce Dating After Sexual Assault. The short video and teaching guide affirm that healing looks different for everyone and offer practical tools for navigating trust, communication, and boundaries, creating space for survivors and partners to explore healthy intimacy after trauma.
